Sønderborg Airport Achieves 20% Passenger Growth in November
November was a historic month for Sønderborg Airport. We experienced our busiest November since before COVID, with more than 6,800 passengers traveling through the airport. This represents an impressive increase of 20 percent compared to the same month last year.

Looking at the entire year, over 59,000 travelers have already chosen Sønderborg Airport as the starting point for their journeys. This amounts to an overall growth of 11 percent compared to the previous year. This development highlights that more and more people see the advantages of traveling locally and conveniently.
What has driven the growth?
A combination of factors has contributed to these strong numbers. Activity on the route to and from Copenhagen has increased, and the end of the charter season has been strong, with both Alsie Express and Neubauer Turistik sending many travelers out into the world. In addition, we are seeing a clear rise in the number of German passengers choosing Sønderborg Airport.

CEO Jákup Sverri Kass explains:
“The growth came as a bit of a surprise, but after analyzing the figures, we can see that both business and leisure travelers are increasingly using the airport. We are also seeing a significant increase in the number of German passengers.”

“We will continue working to meet the needs of the business community while also developing inbound tourism. With the opening of Center Parcs Nordborg Resort, we have new opportunities to attract guests who want to experience Sønderborg and the entire region. This complements the many fantastic experiences that already exist in the area,” says the CEO.
