Sønderborg Airport continues to grow – more passengers to Copenhagen, fewer charter departures

Overall, the airport has seen a 13% increase in passengers in 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Sønderborg Airport has seen passenger growth in every month of 2025, and September once again stands out as the busiest month of the year. With a 4% increase compared to September last year, a total of 6,327 passengers chose Sønderborg Airport as their gateway to Copenhagen or destinations across Europe.

“We are continuously working to offer our travelers better and more travel options to and from Sønderborg Airport,” says Jákup Sverri Kass, CEO of Sønderborg Airport.

While the route to Copenhagen has benefited from strong supply and attractive offers, charter traffic was more limited in September 2025. Unlike last year, when German tour operator Neubauer Turistik offered charter flights from Sønderborg, no similar departures were available this September. However, Alsie Express operated three charter flights to destinations including Stockholm, Strasbourg, and Munich.

Overall, Sønderborg Airport has experienced a 13% increase in passenger numbers in 2025 compared to the same period last year. This corresponds to a total of 46,366 passengers having traveled through the airport so far this year.
