Sønderborg Airport is currently Denmark’s fastest-growing airport

More than 46,000 passengers are already traveling to or from the airport, corresponding to a 13% increase compared to last year.

Sønderborg Airport has had an impressive 2024. In the first nine months of the year, the airport welcomed 13% more passengers compared to the same period last year – making it the fastest-growing airport in Denmark.

“We’ve had some cancellations on charter flights, but on the other hand, we have a charter to Madeira in November, which we didn’t have last year,” explains Jákup Sverri Kass, CEO of Sønderborg Airport, to Check-in.dk.

The growth continues into 2025, with more than 46,000 passengers already traveling to or from the airport, corresponding to a 13% increase compared to last year. The goal is to reach around 65,000 passengers by the end of the year. Part of this growth is expected to come from the North German market, with which the airport continues to strengthen its collaboration – with Munich being one of the destinations under consideration.
