Sonderborg Airport expects high activity this coming summer

Growth continues at Sonderborg Airport, with a 10% increase in passenger numbers in April. From January to April 2025, the total growth has reached 14% compared to the same period in 2024.

Sonderborg Airport continues to experience strong growth, reporting a 10% increase in passenger numbers in April 2025 compared to the same month last year. From January to April 2025, the total passenger count has risen by 14% compared to 2024 – from 15,430 to 17,625 travelers.

This growth coincides with an ongoing modernization of the airport.

“We are seeing increased traffic on our website, where visitors are exploring the record number of charter destinations available from Sonderborg in 2025. The expanded range of travel options from Sonderborg, combined with growing interest in flights to and from Copenhagen, gives us reason to believe that 2025 will be a very successful year for Sonderborg Airport,” says Jákup Sverri Kass, CEO of Sonderborg Airport.

Charter programs from Gislev Rejser and Neubauer Reisen have also launched. Gislev Rejser has partnered with Alsie Express, operating ATR72 aircraft, while Neubauer Reisen is working with Smartwings, which operates Boeing 737-800 aircraft to and from Sonderborg.

With strong early results and increasing demand, the airport is optimistic about a record-breaking summer season.
